Troy, MI January 10, 1881: The Founding of Cummingston Park

On January 10, 1881, prominent settler William Marcus Hall purchased a 50-acre parcel of land in the Southwest quarter of Section 32 in Troy Township. This specific tract of land, maintained as a woodlot by the Hall family for decades, was never clear-cut for farming. It eventually became Cummingston Park, one of Royal Oak's most cherished nature preserves, known for its rare, old-growth hardwood forest.
