Cyclosporiasis outbreak tops 5,000 cases
Michigan's cyclosporiasis outbreak has climbed past 5,000 cases, with more than 100 in Oakland County — home to Troy — and similar counts in neighboring counties. State health officials traced the surge to iceberg lettuce from supplier Taylor Farms, prompting Taco Bell to pull the product nationwide.
Wildfire smoke closes Troy county offices early
Hazardous air quality from Canadian wildfire smoke forced the Oakland County Clerk and Register of Deeds offices to shut down early on July 16, including the Troy location on Crooks Road. Most services remain available online in the meantime.

Troy teen earns Congressional Award gold medal
Troy resident Lauren Hatto earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal after logging 400 hours of volunteering, 200 hours of physical activity, 200 hours of personal development, and a cultural expedition to Iceland — including extensive volunteer work with the Troy Public Library and Stage Nature Center. She received her medal at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in June.
