Jeffrey Mosteller, the safety manager at the Oxford Center in Troy, has been sentenced to between 19 months and 15 years in prison. His sentencing follows a no-contest plea to involuntary manslaughter regarding a January 2025 hyperbaric chamber explosion that killed a five-year-old boy. The explosion also resulted in injuries to the child's mother. Mosteller and three other facility employees were originally charged with various crimes, including second-degree murder, for allegedly ignoring critical safety protocols. These violations included failing to use grounding wrist straps and using improper materials like polyester pillows and warm blankets during treatment. While Mosteller's second-degree murder charge was dismissed, his sentence concludes a legal process involving multiple staff members.
