The Cass Tech Technicians closed out the 2025 calendar year on a high note, securing a gritty 54–52 victory over Cleveland Central Catholic in the PSL Christmas Classic this past Sunday. The win brings Cass Tech to a 7–3 overall record as they prepare for the meat of their Detroit Public I league schedule in January.
The Technicians have shown flashes of dominance this winter, particularly in their 73–45 blowout of Southeastern and a hard-fought five-point win over rival King High School. However, the season hasn't been without its hurdles. Narrow losses to Sexton and Chippewa Valley highlighted areas for growth, specifically in late-game execution. Coach Jameel Lofton's squad has relied heavily on balanced scoring, a hallmark of the program that won the state title just three years ago.
As the calendar turns to 2026, the road gets no easier. Following a non-conference trip to L'Anse Creuse North, Cass Tech returns home for critical league matchups against Douglass and Pershing. With the Detroit Public I standings tightly packed, every January contest will be pivotal for seeding in the upcoming PSL Tournament.
