Pershing High School Girls Basketball Update 12/31/2025

The Pershing High School girls varsity basketball team enters the 2026 portion of their schedule looking to find the rhythm that led them to a deep playoff run just one year ago. Currently sitting at 1–3, the Doughboys have shown flashes of resilience, particularly in a gritty two-point victory over East English Village Prep in mid-December.
Early Season Breakdown
The season opened with a difficult offensive outing against Southeastern, where the Doughboys were held to just 9 points. However, the team bounced back immediately in their next home game, securing a 44–42 win. Recent matchups against Communication Media Arts and Cody have proven difficult, with the team falling in both contests despite an improved scoring output of 43 points in their latest game against Cody.
The Road Ahead
The upcoming January schedule will be pivotal for Pershing’s standing in the Detroit Public League. With a heavy slate of league games, including rematches against Southeastern and East English Village Prep, the Doughboys have ample opportunity to climb the conference rankings before the MHSAA districts begin in March.
