Technicians Test Their Metal Against State Elite
DETROIT — The Cass Tech girls varsity basketball team enters the new year with a 2-3 record, having navigated one of the most demanding early-season schedules in recent memory. Under the guidance of alum and head coach LaTonya Tate, the Technicians have shown flashes of the defensive grit that has become the program's hallmark.
After securing back-to-back wins against Dexter and Mumford in mid-December, Cass Tech faced a "murderer's row" of non-conference opponents. While the scoreboard favored Detroit Country Day and West Bloomfield in their respective matchups, the Technicians remained competitive, particularly in a hard-fought 59-48 loss to a powerful West Bloomfield squad on December 28.

Looking Ahead
The road doesn't get much easier as the calendar turns to January. The Technicians will host a double-header against Utica Eisenhower and Utica on January 3rd before hitting the road for three consecutive away games. These non-league tests are designed to prepare Cass Tech for the rigors of the Detroit Public League tournament and the MHSAA playoffs, where they hope to build on last year's deep run.
