The Renaissance Phoenix varsity boys basketball team enters the New Year with a 6-6 record, looking to find consistency in a season marked by high-scoring peaks and tough defensive battles. After a grueling December showcase schedule, the Phoenix are set to pivot toward the heart of the Detroit Public I League race.
The team’s resilience was on full display during the holiday break, securing a nail-biting 61-60 victory over Roseville before falling in a hard-fought 67-77 contest against a ranked Wayne Memorial squad. With an offense that has proven it can explode for 70+ points, head coach and staff will be looking to tighten the defensive rotations as they face local rivals like Mumford and Martin Luther King in the coming weeks.
