Sequoia "Redwood" Snyder is a Detroit-based musician, composer, producer, and singer specializing in contemporary jazz blended with R&B, soul, hip-hop, gospel, and funk. Originally from Washington, D.C., she holds degrees from Michigan State University and has been mentored by jazz legends Rodney Whitaker and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Snyder frequently performs at local venues such as the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe and Cliff Bell's. She was recently selected as one of seven artists for the 2026 Next Jazz Legacy program, founded by NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington. Snyder is scheduled to perform with Inner Knowing at the Detroit Jazz Festival on September 6. The festival takes place at Hart Plaza over Labor Day weekend and is free to the public.
