Former NFL assistant coach Kippy Brown passed away on Monday, August 31, at the age of 71. Over a 22-season coaching career, Brown worked for seven different teams, including the 2014 Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks. He notably served as the associate coach for the Detroit Lions during their winless 0-16 season in 2008. Before his coaching career, Brown was a pioneer as the first Black quarterback in the history of the Memphis Tigers. He played for the university from 1974 to 1977. Brown was the youngest of 13 children.
